As a Generation Y, spending countless hours in front of the computer and surfing the web has become second nature. The Internet has been so ingrained with my daily life that I do just about everything online now. I get the news there, shop for clothes, and recently, started watching streamed television shows online.
If I really think about it, I waste a ton of hours staring at my computer everyday. Think about all the great things I can accomplish if I just stopped cold turkey. But some websites are just too addicting to stop. Let’s take a look at all the websites that I have to visit at least once a day.
1) Cagepotato.com
This is where I go to get my MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) fix. Updated almost everyday, this blog informs the hardcore fans like myself on what’s happening in the MMA world. One of the great things about this blog is that during the events, you can read their live blog where they describe each fight for those who aren’t watching it themselves. If you’re a MMA fan or someone who wants to learn more about the sport, definitely check this site out. You will not be disappointed.
2) Slickdeals.net
After discovering this site through a friend a few years ago, I just couldn’t stop. Because of this website, I will never buy anything at full retail price anymore unless I need it right away. This website is basically a forum where members post the hottest deals on anything ranging from baby diapers to electronics. The most desirable deals are posted on the front page for quick viewing, while potentially hot (warm) deals can still be found on the forums. Trust me when I say this. Shopping will never be the same once you become a SD’er.
3) SFGate.com
Who gets the newspaper delivered to their front doors every morning anymore? Not me and definitely not the majority of the Gen Y’ers. Having to read the news online makes it a lot easier to find old articles and be updated on current events. I get my daily front paged, crime, technology, and Bay Area news all on one page. The only thing I would ever touch a print newspaper now is to check out the Datebook section. That’s where all the cartoons and word puzzles are located. It just isn’t the same reading it online for some reason.
4) Facebook.com
Okay. This is the majority of where I waste my time. Facebooking is the most unproductive part of my day. Who cares about what your friend earned on Farmville. Who cares if friend #1 wrote on friend #2′s wall. Apparently, I do. I wish I don’t, but I do. The one stop shop for all your social needs. This is why I don’t see myself using Twitter or MySpace. Facebook has it all. Damnit.
